‘We at JDRF are truly in awe of Chris as he prepares to undertake his ‘7C7A’ challenge in support of our research to find the cure for type 1 diabetes. - Adele Claase – Head of Events at Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Chris was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 21 whilst in the France. He was a perfectly healthy and active young man but as is the case with many people with type 1 diabetes, it struck with little warning and for no known reason.
JDRF is the leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research, funding the most ground breaking research around the world. JDRF work with academia, industry and governments to make sure that the research that they fund has the greatest possible impact on the lives of people with type 1 now and in the future. Not only is JDRF is committed to funding the most promising and innovative research that will lead us to the cure for type 1 diabetes. They also develop better treatments to improve the lives of people with type 1, and even prevent it from developing in the first place.
Chris is one of about 400,000 people in the UK with type 1 diabetes, including some 29,000 children. Unfortunately the rate at which people are being diagnosed with the disease is increasing by 4% annually for reasons that remain unknown. Visit JDRF
